Warming Mustard Bath Soak

Years ago, I was introduced to an aromatic, warming bath blend that helped ease aches, pains, and chills - and I was hooked. Whether it was post-gym soreness, a long day of gardening, or the discomfort that comes with feeling under the weather, this soak offered real relief.

Over time, I began making my own version, using ingredients that support circulation, soothe tired muscles, and gently warm the body. I've gifted this blend many times, and it’s always well-loved.

My Go-To Recipe

This soak is stimulating, warming, and deeply comforting - especially when you feel chilled to the bone or your body needs a reset.

NOTE: Due to the intensity of mustard and ginger, this soak is not recommended for small children or those with very sensitive skin or eyes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Epsom salts

  • ½ cup baking soda

  • ⅓ cup ground mustard seed

  • 2 Tbsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 16 drops lavender essential oil

  • 6 drops eucalyptus essential oil

  • 6 drops rosemary essential oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients until thoroughly combined.

  2. Store in an airtight jar, away from moisture and light.

To Use

  1. Add ½ cup to a tub of warm running water (as warm as is comfortable).

  2. Soak for 15–20 minutes, rinse off, and moisturize well.

  3. Rest, relax, and enjoy the afterglow.

Not a bath-taker?

  1. Add ½ cup to a foot tub/dish basin filled with water as warm as is comfortable.

  2. Soak your feet for 15–20 minutes, rinse off, and moisturize well.

  3. Rest, relax, and enjoy the afterglow.

I hope this recipe brings you comfort. An attractive jar filled with this salt blend would make a very nice gift too.
